FALSE TWIST TEXTURING
Alan Fellingham’s course on False Twist Texturing is the most complete course offered on CD today on this subject. Alan, a Fellow of the Textile Institute in England, has been plant manager in a large textile operation. In every step of his course you will get to know the process through the eyes of an experienced textile man. A man who knows what he is talking about.
This course gives the background and theory of the manufacture of false twist textured yarns. It contains a detailed account of the theory of false twist together with descriptions of the three principle machine types i.e. friction twist, belt texturing and pin texturing.
The course is designed to be of practical assistance to Managers, Supervisors and students. In addition to the description of the three machine types there are sections on specification development, production calculations, production planning, testing and fault finding. Included are three video clips showing false twist texturing. They can be viewed when paging through the course or directly from the menu.
The background to the formation of the CD is the reduction in textile training facilities worldwide. This course is a convenient way of accessing information. The intention was to write the material in such a way that the reader could apply the knowledge immediately on the shop floor rather than it being purely academic in nature. In addition to theoretical description of the process and machinery available, this training material includes production calculations, touches on production planning and deals with utilities (electrical and compressed air) and specification development.
The advantage of this CD is that it is easily accessible as most companies and educational facilities have computers available for technical or managerial staff and it can either stand-alone or be connected to a network if the disc is licensed. The computer does not need any special requirements apart from Windows 95 and above as the program files contain their own operating system. Therefore, there are no installation procedures. The use of CD is fairly new and has advantages over books by being able to incorporate video and color photographs and diagrams to illustrate points in the text.
The course content has 42 topics ranging from theoretical principles through machine design to calculations and specification development and testing.
