Dyeing of Filament Yarns
Alan Fellingham’s latest educational course covers all aspects of how to dye filament and textured yarns. After creating the successful courses on False Twist and Air Jet Texturing it is interesting to note that this course is much larger and highly detailed. Alan, a Fellow of the Textile Institute in England, is plant manager in a large textile company. In every step of his course you will get the know the process through the eyes of an experienced textile man. A man who knows what he is talking about.
This third disk in the educational series gives a historical background and theory of color, color measurement, laboratory dyeing, dyestuff types, basic recipes for nylon and polyester, machine design and options together with various types of drying. A section is included on the high light fastness requirements of yarns for automotive enduse. Also included is a section on the muff dyeing of false twisted textured nylon. A small section deals with steam generation and water softening as well as with testing and troubleshooting. Video sequences are shown in certain sections to illustrate the subject.
The course is designed to be of practical assistance to Managers, Supervisors and Students.
The background to the creation of the CD is the reduction in textile training facilities worldwide. This course is a convenient way of accessing information. The intention was to write the material in such a way that the reader could apply the knowledge immediately.
The advantage of this CD is that it is easily accessible as most companies and educational facilities have computers available for technical or managerial staff and it can either standalone or be connected to a network if the disc is licensed. The computer does not need any special requirements apart from Windows 95 and above as the program files contain their own operating system. Therefore, there are no installation procedures. The use of CD is fairly new and has advantages over books by being able to incorporate video and color photographs and diagrams to illustrate points in the text.
The course content has 34 topics ranging from theory of color to dye recipes to testing and to problem solving.
